2020-21 SKATING SEASON
posted Aug 31, 2020, 10:26 PM
Hello to all of our returning skaters and welcome to all of our new skaters,
We are the Almonte and Carleton Place Skating Club and are so proud to offer Skate Canada programs to our communities. This season looks a lot different from those gone by, as it should; we are in the midst of a global pandemic.
Our program offerings are not nearly as plentiful as they were last season, particularly in the area of CanSkate, where we are unable to offer Pre-Can and Stage 1 CanSkate unless skaters can stand, skate and get up completely independently. This new world of hands-off coaching is a major adjustment and particularly challenging on sessions with our younger skaters, whom are still in the midst of laying the foundation for body awareness and coordination of movement. Nevertheless, our coaches are ready to welcome back skaters with physically distanced arms and megawatt smiles because it has been far too long!
As an Executive, we have been working so hard to try and prepare for this season. Inevitably, there will be hiccups, as we all learn this new "normal" and become accustomed to the policies and procedures put in place to prevent the transmission of COVID-19. If you see or hear something that concerns you, as it relates to safety, I would ask that you please think about how you choose to react. We would really appreciate hearing about it right away, so please, reach out to our Executive by email at email@example.com.
Our volunteers in the arena who will be completing COVID-19 screening for participants, are parents just like you and likely will not have all the answers. Please be respectful towards them, as without them, we would not be able to offer skating programs at all.
We will do our best to keep you up to date on important information as the season unfolds.
We thank you all in advance for your patience and grace, as we work together to get our kids back on the ice.
