PROGRAM ASSISTANTS

Do you need to earn volunteer hours to graduate?

The Almonte & Carleton Place Skating Club can help!

The role of the Program Assistant is to assist CanSkate Program on ice with:

* Warm-up

*Cool-down

*Group activity

*Station rotation

*Demonstrating skills

*Program set-up and take down

*Taking attendance

If the below describes you, then you are an ideal candidate to be a Program Assistant (PA) with our club:

 - Do you love working with young children?

-Are you at least 11 years of age?

- Are you a strong and steady skater with a positive attitude?

- Do you have your own skates and warm clothing?

- Are you free on Thursday and/or Friday evenings for an hour at either the Carleton Place or Almonte Arena?

How do I get started?

To get started, contact Natasha Peterson to let her know you're interested.  In addition, you will need to attend a Program Assistant Training.

What you need to be a Program Assistant (PA)

A membership with Skate Canada is required prior to stepping on the ice for insurance purposes.

We can help you get registered if you have questions.  The membership is approximately $40.00.  If you commit to 8 CanSkate lessons (equivalent to 8 hours of on ice CanSkate help,) the club will reimburse you for your membership.

**Please note, if you are a club member, you will not get reimbursed as a membership is required for insurance purposes for all other skating programs**

-You will need to attend a Program Assistant Training Program scheduled for on Monday September 23, 2019 from 5:30-7:30pm at the Carleton Place arena.  Please confirm your attendance with Natasha Peterson (acpskatingclub@gmail.com)

What's in this for you??

-If you decide to help us run our CanSkate program, you will earn 1 hour of volunteer time for each CanSkate class you help with.

-If you don't need any volunteer hours, but still want to help our club's CanSkate Program, we will pay you an honorarium of $5.00/hour at the end of the skating season for each hour you volunteered.

-Something amazing to put on your resume

-Endless gratitude from the coaches and the skaters and skater's parents

-Repayment of your Skate Canada membership if you are not a club member and you complete 8 hours of CanSkate help.
